Book and a T.V series well worth watching...

Battlestar Galactica: The Clyons' secret
By Craig Shaw Gardner
ISBN:
9780765355171

Synopsis

After the devastating Cylon War, the Cylons retreated to parts unknown in deep space, and the twelve human colonies rebuilt that which was destroyed. For twenty years nothing was heard from the Cylons-but sometimes no news is bad news. For the humans, the aftermath of the war has created a new, albeit illegal, profession: scavenger. Tom Zarek is one of these scavengers, scouring the outer settlements for valuable Cylon technologies and artifacts, usually returning empty-handed. But now, he and his crew have found the Omega Station, a secret science facility beyond the edge of charted space, which turns out to be still occupied-by Cylons! The Battlestar Galactica receives the Lightning's distress call, getting the coordinates and a cryptic one-word message: "Cylons." A younger William Adama, just promoted to second in command, is worried. Soon, they will discover the base is full of not just Cylons, but also something much more disturbing...and deadly.

What I think...

I'm a really big Galactica fan both of the old series and of the new one (see below). I always feel that when you get a book that follows on from a film or a T.V series you never get the same feeling. the only exception to this is both the Alien follow on books and it seems this Galactica book. This book takes you a step further than the T.V series and stats to explain things about the Cylones that I have always wondered about.

Synopsis

This updated and re-imagined version of the classic 1970s sci-fi television show BATTLESTAR GALACTICA combines elements of STAR TREK, STAR WARS, and THE TERMINATOR. Human beings built the android Cylons to work as servants for them, only to have the robots rebel and disappear into space. A generation later, however, the Cylons returned to destroy their former masters, and succeeded in eliminating the 12 worlds that mankind inhabited. Luckily, one group of people has managed to escape the genocide, led by Commander William Adama (Edward James Olmos), on board the massive space ship called Battlestar Galactica. But the struggle isn't over, as the ruthless Cylons continue to pursue the ship and the last surviving members of the human race. This vision of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA features a darker tone and CGI special effects, and shares with other science fiction sagas a warning about the misuse of advanced technology.

What I think...

You just can't beat this season of Galactica. Mankind is heading further into the star trying to find its way to Earth. this season had me sitting on the edge of my seat, I can't wait till season 3... Well worth watching even if you don't like sci-fi series, this is more about what mankind is like and how we treat each other...
