I got a message from a friend of mine in Ireland asking for some advice about going raw and I thought I would post the answer here and maybe it would help someone else.

In his message he was asking me about what I thought are best things for someone starting out raw.

Books you should have on your bookshelf;

12 Steps to Raw Food.
How to end your dependency on cooked food.
By Victoria Boutenko.
ISBN: 9781556436512

Raw Truth: The Art of Preparing Living Foods
By Jeremy Safron.
ISBN: 9781587611728

Living on Live Food.
By Alissa Cohen.
ISBN: 9780974896304

7lbs in 7 Days Super Juice Diet.
By Jason Vale.
ISBN: 9780007231478

Equipment you should have in your raw kitchen;

Vita-Mix Blender - you can do anything in this blender from grinding nuts to making soups.

Excalibur Dehydrator – it’s better to start off with one that will grow with you, go for the nine draw now as you will only want it later.

Magimix Food Processor – again this is another work horse of the kitchen that will last you years.

Philips Wide chute Juicer – you can drop big chunks of fruit into this juicer and it gives you 70% more juice than other juicers on the market.

A cheap Coffee grinder – best for grinding linseeds and herbs.

Websites you should book mark;

On line and paper magazines;

  • Funky Raw Magazine Website...

  • Get Fresh Magazine Website...

  • I hope this is some help, I’m sure I’ve missed out loads of stuff so I will post more as I think of them.

    You're the best!

    This is very helpful.

    One question though, why do you recommend the 9 draw dehydrator over the five, I mean, obviously you can fit more, but do you find yourself running out of space?

    I have no idea what each tray equates to in yields of food?

    Also, is the nine draw larger in height only or is the whole appliance larger?

    I have limited space.

    Thanks x x
